Just picked up a used 303 die set. Upon looking closer the dies are marked 303-338. With the 338 portion written smaller. These seem to be older rcbs dies. FL. I was looking for 303 British. But the 338 is throwing me off. Is this usable? None of my other dies are written like this...

Size one case and see what it looks like. There is such a thing as .30-338 Lapua. I'm thinking custom too. .303 British dies would have 'Brit' or something similar on 'em.

I've heard of several people with 303-323 wildcats before. It's a 303 British cartridge necked up for 8mm bullets. If the bore in a 303 is shot-out it could be re-bored and re-rifled to 8mm to be refreshed. The same could be done up to 338 as well.

My .303 British dies say "303B" on them.

Upon further research I came across the talk on The 338-303 which is written reverse to what the die says. But based on the rod in it the measurement opens it to .310 ish...
Strange.....must be a custom job..

That was a fairly common round for the P 14.
They opened the chamber up and used 338 brass necked down to .311.
