Looking for info on converting a No4 mag to feed 303 Epps flawlessly each and every time. Questions are as follows:

1. Does the follower require modification?
2. Does the box dimensions require change at the front set of side wall depressions?
3. Does either of the feed lips require reprofiling? one or both?

If some body has a mag that feeds real smooth could they post a pic. I'm planning on using a 5 shot mag on this project (Long Branch No4 MK1*).

Thanks, Ron

I was under the impression that the .303 EPPS conversions were a back and forth thing (shoot .303 British today , reload them as .303 EPPS tonight). I thought it was just a slightly altered chamber that let you fire OR use either, only the .303 EPPS had better performance and longer case life. GOTO www.303british.com and ask them .They also have some reloading info on the .303 EPPS .

Ron,

It is next to impossible to get the Lee Enfields to feed the Epps Imp cartridge. I have owned two of them that were nothing but frustration in this regard.

Don't know of anyone, including Elwood Himself, whom I knew personally and chambered my first one, who was ever able to get one to feed more than three reliably. Most will feed two from the mag with some shennanigans. :D

The P14 can be altered to do so, but it has an integral solid steel magazine, not the sheet metal detachable one the LE uses.

my understanding of the problem is that the forward feed lips are too long and too far forward to reliable feed the fatter epps casing.

Compare the 308 enfield mags with the standard 303 mags to see the diferences.

Intuitively you would think that that is the answer, however they won't feed from 308 mags either. :(

I wish you luck. Please, if you do get 303 Imps to feed from an SMLE magazine, please let us know. I would love to know how you did it.
