303 gets it done

That's not "landscape".

It's rural Newfoundland

Wonderful place.

Might be a bit "wild" for the folks from Central Canada: it hasn't even been paved over yet!

Buddy has really good bolt control on that old rifle.

Just "Snap, SNAP" and it's reloaded.

Two hundred for a Moose? Newfoundland Moose are as big as houses. Good shot.

Don't think that one took much finishing; he was dead when he piled up.
.

I agree, he was done after the first round. the time between shooting and the moose going down wasn't long at all. figure that moose at 1000lbs (easy number) that means he has about about 1000 ounces of blood in him. I believe you need to bleed out about 30 to 50 percent before unconciousness. so that is between 300 and 500 ounces. he was definately well shot to go down that fast.

:What? The old .303 dropped a Newfie Moose? Impossible. Everybody knows you need a .338 RUM minimum.

Fine Print: Pure sarcasm.

Nice sized moose, and a great first shot. That thing was dead before he took the second shot, the second shot just woke the moose up enough to remind it to fall down.

Dave, is that in Salmonier or Placentia area, the landscape is familiar but for the life of me I can't place it. There's been a few swamp-donkeys knocked down here with the old '303, the old-timers over my way wouldn't hunt without one, it was always cool to see a old timer take a knee and drop an animal out to 250yds. The old mosin I had would punch out to 200yds but that seemed to be her falloff point. Gawd, I can't wait for the fall to come now, gotta get hunting again. Thanks for the video. :D :D :D
