You're thinking of a No.4Mk1, not a No.1Mk4, which doesn;t exist, by the way.

But on both counts you are wrong.

It's an Essential Agencies Limited carbine, or "EAL" for short.

Are you pulling our chain?

It is an EAL. A sporter made by Longbranch after the war. Therre are two models - one military survival rifle and one ciivilian hunting rifle. Yours is the latter.

Do not "improve" it in any way.

They were manufactured from Long Branch produced parts, but they were not manufactured by Long Branch.

Thanks for the info, but the gun is not for sale.

Please post more pics of your rifle. You can use Windows Paint to black out the serial number digits but we'd love to see the rest of it.:)

It looks to me like a civilian No 4 Mk I* EAL rifle that someone has put a military Long Branch buttstock on to. Too bad as you'll never find the actual EAL buttstock anywhere except on another EAL.
Does it have the EAL forend with the sheet metal sling swivel held on with two screws?

Hit Search, type in EAL, you'll find tons of threads and info about these interesting rifles.
