I was hoping someone could help me identify this rifle and maybe put a value on it for me, it seems its a mark 1 no 1 1899, but it does not look old, must be a mix match of parts, if anyone is interested in this rifle, make me an offer, i am going to be putting up on the for sale forum when i can figure out what i have, there are lots of collectors out there and i want to see it go to a good home
the websites below are for a image sharing site like photobucket, just a lot easier, don't have to sign up for it

What you have is a sportered MLE (Magazine Lee Enfield) Mk.I* (Mark one star).

The barrel has had about half an inch bobbed from the front, probably to restore the crown for shooting. Some of these oldies tend to be worn from cleaning with a pull through cord.

Nicely sportered, was once somebodies pride and joy, but no longer a collector's item. Hard to work up as a restoration project with the cut barrel, so your market would be hunters. Somebody could make it a project and cut it back a bit more to carbine length and make a nice deer gun.

Value? Hmmmm, dunno. Sad to say that it is probably worth more stripped and sold as parts than it would be as an assembled rifle. The mag not original either, it is from a later model SMLE. You might have got a good bolt, rear sight, butt stock, butt plate, stock bolt, rear sling swivel, trigger group, trigger guard.

If the bore is nice, try asking a couple of hundred and see if there are any bites, but probably a $100+ rifle to me.
