303 machine gun ammo

I was looking at a case of ammo and passed because it was machine gun listed. I thought this was too hot for rifles. I don't remember what gun it stated on the box but was UK built. Was I mistaken? Thanks AJ

Vickers, Bren, browning all used 303.

Are cartridges manufactured for machine guns any different from ordinary cartridges? I buy 7.62 X 54r machine gun ammo from Canada Ammo for
my SVT-40 and Mosin and it seems to have the same kick and grouping that other surplus has. Is there a difference in quality perhaps?

I think the difference was that it used boattail bullets.

I would have no issues shooting it out of my rifles.

Nowadays, 50 cents would be a steal!
75 cents would still be fair to good for corrosive .303
