Hi all what are your favourite mouse fart loads for the .303 British.

I’m looking at possibly using something like the campro wad cutter(.314) or maybe the lee 90gr tumble lube.

115 gr .313 unsized from a Lyman 311008. 10 gr of American Select
I'm currently using a nickel for a sight elevator in my 1897 Long Lee

Maybe not "mouse farts" but I use 123gr Berry's plated bullets 70% filled with Trail Boss. I could shoot these all day with no shoulder pain!

I’m mainly looking for plinker loads. But standard .303 I could shoot all day with standard ammo.

I do have a hammoned game getter in .303(also have one in 7.62x54r) but that can get boring.

I've fired lots of 10 gr. 700X under a cast 185 gr. Lee. Lots of loads to plink with, little recoil, low cost.

From The Ken Waters Pet Loads....303 British ....90gr Hornady SWC 3.3gr of Red Dot -912 fps OAL-2.6" or 4gr of Unique for 907fps
I use a LEE 93gr .311 Tokarev mold for my .30 calibers. Nice in a CZ527 7.62x39 as well over 3gr of Bullseye for chickens or substitute a .32 ACP 71FMJ and you can eat right up to the bullet hole. Bulk .32 ACP 71gr FMJ's were available from Budget will work in all .30 calibers. They also have .314 cast pistol bullets to save messing around.

6gr of tightgroup or w231 and a large rifle mag primer with cast bullets works well at 25m
Those powders are available it seems but why the mag primers?
I have some 2400 on hand and hs6 I do have an old metal can of sr4759 but it’s only 8oz and kinda wanna save it for possible other things.

I just use mag primers in everything. I need them for my big bores so I just use them in every load I develope for any round that takes a large rifle primer so I only have to buy one type of primer for the 10 different rifles I load for.

The tite group would be fine with regular large rifle primers but the w231 is a ball powder and I got less variance in loads when using the mag primer so it made a difference with the w231

Being able to light these with pistol primers would be an advantage, with the present shortage and prices for rifle primers.

I use mostly cast with Bullseye or Red Dot.

I want a bullet that's long enough to be nicely seated while not far-far-away from the leade like you find with the 90 gr cast I once tried in a Lee Enfield. The problem with that bullet was that there was a moment after firing when the bullet was neither in the neck nor engaged with the rifling and I was getting hangfires as pressure went up, then down, then up again during the initail bullet travel.

I don’t have either available to me unfortunately. But Titewad is close in both burn rate and VMD to red dot.
