flying pig: Now that is a classy lookin' Lee Enfield!:)

It boggles my mind to contemplate how many hunting excursions were taken with good Lee Enfield rifles. A rifle like the one flying pig has pictured has accompanied many of us nutz into the world of shooting, hunting, and collecting.

A word of caution: Check those wonderful old rifles over very carefully before hacksawing and grinding them up into a "sporter". Although some have only the standard, minimal historical value, some are cloaked with layer upon layer of it. I'll give you a prime example: Years ago, I bought one of "them old Russian rifles". From where and what price, I don't recall. I owned the rifle for at least 20 years before I stumbled on some information leading me to realize that it was a SAT barreled M91. To those who know about such things, no more need be said. I can assure you, now, I pay a lot more attention to any markings and details about any rifles I own.

This little story serves to show what a dumba$$ I am, true, but it also shows what can come of a matter without any research.

For sure, and there are a lot of excellent sporters out there. I was lucky with this one, Parker-Hale did the work minus scope and mount before I was born and my dad bought it and hated it. So I was given a brand new PH No4 as the first rifle I've owned. Now this year at 78 years old it has gone hunting for the first time ever. Can't wait to take an animal with it!
