Just picked up a 303. It's (I assume a Lee Enfield) a mark 4 with a U on the bolt. I really don't know a lot about these, but shot one lots when I was a kid and didn't know what the gun was, just that I liked to shoot!

Anyays, it's missing the screw/bolt at the front of the trigger guard going up into the stock to hold the trigger guard in place.

I looked around, with no luck. Can anyone tell me where I can get another screw/bolt or what they look like so I can dig thru the bolt bin at the local gunshop where there is no 303 knowledge.

Gerich, you won't find this one in the bolt bin at the gun shop: special thread, fits nothing else ever made. On the other hand, there are a few still around. (BA)

Where is the rear sight on your rifle? Is it over top of the back end of the bolt, or is it partway up the barrel? Are there markings under the bolt-handle... or are they on the left side of the frame? Parts do NOT interchange between these rifles. The U on your bolt is making me ask questions! This was usually found on the EARLY type rifle, the Mark III, and not on the Number 4 which everybody CALLS the 'Mark IV'. Very confusing!

BTW, you won't find that bolt in a bin, either: DIFFERENT special thread!!!!! (Enfield)

Let us know what markings you have. Parts do exist.

Thanks so far! I give you some marking to help ID this rifle.

The rear sight is halfway up the barrel. It has a slide built into it for longer ranges with a button to move it.

The markings under the bolt are

On the other side is says England

There is a 4 on the mag and it is the mag with the extra teeth on it.
That's why I thought is was a Mark4, but I guess it's a III.

Sounds like a Short Magazine Lee Enfield (SMLE) Mark III made at Birmingham Small Arms Company in 1915. The England stamps means the rifle was sold into the civilian market in the post WW2 years and was exported from England. You may also notice a "BNP" marking on the left side of the receiver. The magazine sounds just like the one I have in my SMLE. Is there an "O A" stamped right where the "extra teeth" are ?
 
Yep there is an OA on the mag. It is a 10 round mag.
Couldn't find the BNP though.

Any thought as to where I could find a screw/bolt for the front of the trigger gaurd/magwell?

No pics yet, but it's nothing fancy. Can't wait to heat up the pipe!
