Went to the range tonight and shot the box of ammo that came with it, got about 2 1/4” group at 100m with open sights of course!!
I think I can shrink that with reloads!

Slug your bore, the last one I used need .312 bullets for best accuracy, which was just over an inch, from the bench with original sights.

I found the free bore in my Ross rifles to be quite long as well, so seat the bullets out as far as the magazine will allow.

Nice. Checkering probably added later. The higher-grade 1905-E sporters had different backsights and checkered wood, and the profile of your checkering is not quite the same as the factory IIRC. How's the bore?

How about the Harris lever? Is there a quicker way to load or unload a fixed magazine?

Not all Es are checkered either. Mine is in nearly new condition, but no checkering and is definitely all original. Also, Es have the square barrel thread profile rather than the 3tpi LH buttress thread, and the upgraded trigger found on MkII** target rifles, as well as the flag safety. Mine also has a very swept down bolt handle.

Mine is far from being mint in any way, but it looks great and I think it will shoot better when I reloads for it! As for the bore, it ain’t shiny but has really strong rifling and pretty sharp as well! Bearhunter, what bullet are you using in yours?
