dont know if this is the right place to post this but,
where would one buy .303 savage in canada. i hear importing it from the USA is more trouble than it's worth.

if you are talking about factory rounds, they have been obsolete for years.
Gunshows are about the only place to find factory ammo in Canada these days I think.
Those of us that shoot it reload for it.
I personally have several boxes of factory ammo but wouldn't shoot it,it's too collectible.
You might get lucky with an add in the EE...

The .303 Savage is neither BP nor antique. Epp's is listing ammo. No mention of price or maker. Not likely to be cheap. Prvi isn't listing it on their site. So it's possibly Norma, if Epps actually has any.
"...I hear importing it..." Requires a U.S. export permit that takes a Canadian import permit for the U.S. seller to get. Takes several months as well.

thanks much guys. i don't reload and i wasn't intending on shooting this thing much.
just wanted to see what grandpa was working with.

thanks for the tip on epp's. sent them an email.

Graff;s +Son Is the US importer of Serbian made Privi brass ..............they now have it in stock but a dealer from here will have to get it for you............Harold

A friend of mine made up 250 .303 savage brass from 303 brit by trimming to length, resizing, trimming again, and then turning down the rim.
They function very reliably. I use 30-30 data to reload and have a 180 grain cast load using Unique.
If you have the 303 savage resizer die and a trimmer you can convert 303 Brit or 30-40 Krag ammo to 303 savage.

I also have a hammond game getter in 303 savage. One of two in existence.

standard price for 303 savage is about $75 a box of 20. call epps they may have some. they have some oddball obsolete ammo in stock.

other than that Gunshows would be the other place. or as someone else mentioned. reload for it.

just wanted to say thanks for pointing me to Epps.
got my $110.00 (ouch) incl shipping box of .303 savage.
silly ass looking cartridges. grandpa shoulda known these things were gonna be obsolete. ;)

on a completely unrelated note, i have a box of .303 british for sale cheap cheap. doh,.

What is the going rate for 30 -40 Krag (CIL Dominion production prior to 1950 - yellow boxes, blue stripe- marked 30 U.S. (30-40 Krag Jorgensen) in excellent shape?

A dealer offered me $20.00 per box....

Handloading is the ONLY way. Loading .303 Savage costs the same as loading .30-30.

Get 100 rounds of fresh brass and shoot Grandpa's gun for the next 50 years.
