Greetings:
On a 303 stripper clip what does MK4 mean? Does this refer to the actual round that should be in the stripper or to the stripper clip itself. It is also stamped P&S which would be the maker? I was given 13 of these.
Thanks

There is a reason some species eat their young.

Mark 4 pattern of charger. Adopted as "Charger, .303-inch cartridges, Mark IV", LOC 19786 20 Oct 1917. Interchangeable with previous three marks of charger. P&S is the maker. Chargers were never referred to as stripper clips in the Commonwealth service and the term stripper clip was never used by any military org but was coined by surplus dealers in the 1960s.

SMLE "Chargers"

.. Somewhere else on this site, there's an excellent diagram for loading correctly, the charger. If not done correctly, feed problems arise ! .... loaded correctly, and with a decent supply, it's really amazing how high a rate of fire can be achieved with a vintage rifle ! .... David K.:)

Thanks for all the replies. I know they are called chargers but had a brain spasm and refered to them as chargers. I stand corrected.

I loaded up one as instructed, thumbed it into my P'14, and lo and behold they all fed perfectly! Mind you that was only 5 rounds, not 10.
