.307 Leveroution..?

Hey all, looking at getting into reloading for my .307 94ae Winchester...

I was wondering if anyone knows if a person could take a bullet ment for a 30-30, and use it for a .307. Is the caliber about the same?

The reason i ask is because of a new leveroution round i have found, that is made for lever action rifles but has a rubber tip. I seem to find the bullets on the hoenady website, but the rounds in the caliber i want (.30-.308) has either 30-30 is brackets or .308 marlin express. Do these rounds still work for my gun?

.307 Win, .308 Win, .30/30, and .30-06 all use actual .308" diameter bullets. You should have no problem loading some .308" FTX bullets in .307 Win cases for your 94. You'll use .308 Win Dies and a .30/30 shellholder, but the manuals will explain all this.
 
There are two FTX that hornady makes in the 30 calibre. The one is for the 30/30 and the cannelure is set so that the overall length will be correct fir that calibre. The 308 marlin designated one has the cannelure in a different spot and also has a heavier jacket for the higher velocites of the marlin round when compared to the 30/30 round.
 
Make sure you use the bullet intended for the 30-30. The 307 win will get real close to the 308 marlin velosities. Varget is also a real good powder to go with this combo.
 
Contrary to what 244ACK said I would use the bullet designed for the Marlin not the 30-30 for the reasons he gave similar velocities and crimp groove placement. I would look on the Hornady site for load reccommendations.
I just looked on their site ,they suggest the bullet for the 308 Marlin.

Rifle: Win M94 AE, 20", 1-12" Twist, Win case, Winchester WLR primer, Max C.O.L.: 2.560", Max case length 2.015", Trim case length 2.005"

Leverevolution starting load 37.1gr-2200 fps, max load 42.5gr-2550fps

Varget starting 36.8gr-2200fps, max 41.7gr-2500fps

RL-15 starting 37.6gr-2200fps, max 41.2gr-2450fps

TAC starting 33.8gr-2200fps, max 38.9gr-2500fps

BLC-2 stating 39.0gr-2200fps, max 41.7gr-2450fps

"The 160 gr FTX bullet can be loaded to 2500fps with Hodgdon VARGET and we found the load delivered exceptional accuracy. "
 
I loaded the 140 gr Monoflex the other day, with 41 grs of Rel 15, the same as Hdy reccomends for the 160 ftx. I use the Monoflex for the 30 30, an my cases were 2.005, and I lee crimped at the top of the cannelure. They look great, now just have to shoot them from my new 307.

Alot of great info on beartooth bullets forum, search slim Iorg, and 307, the guy is a God on the winchester big bores, and very helpful.

Both slim and myself think the monoflex is going to be the bullet to beat for the 307. Solid gilding metal, and flatter shooting.
 
There's quite a bit of FTX info on their site, including this for the 307 win. Apparently trimming to 2.005" is critical for best results.
