Hi everyone! Just a quick question, I bought 178 gr eld-x bullets today for my .308 win and 30-06. I was wondering if anyone has tried them? And if I can use the same load data as the 178 gr A-max bullets? I can't find any load data on these bullets since they are so new.

You can use data for any cup and core 178/180gr bullet. Start low and work up the same as one always should.

If you feel the need to have hornady data it is in the new book or you could email hornady.

Is there any issue with seating these using regular dies? I see hornady markets custom profile seating stems for the eld match and eld x bullets. Looking at these for my .308win and .338LM

I'm using a normal .308 Lee seating die and having no issues. I don't know if the tips are hitting inside the seating stem or not but there's no visible marks on the plastic tips or the jackets.
Don't know if the same would be true with Hornady seating dies.

I pretty sure the tip is hitting the seating stem, regardless the polymer tips are much more stout than SST versions and they don't seem to care. I loaded over 200 of these recently in 300 weatherby mag using RCBS dies and they all seated nicely without any problems or deformation.

My Redding dies don't seem to have issues with the tips on them. I am however toying with the idea of getting the seating stems and a set of Hornady dies just to see if there's a difference.

I have been loading the 147elds in my 6.5x55 with a Lee dead length bullet seater and the tips were getting deformed.

I just drilled the stem deeper with a drill that just fit where the tip touches.

I now have no problems and am shooting tight groups out to 600y so definitley no wobblers.
