.308/7.62x51 general loadings?

I am looking to transition to .308/7.62x51 as my go too round for general target shooting and plinking.

I would like to re-load the round, and would like a general round that will perform well in a verity of firearms. The firearms in question will vary form military surplus firearms such as 7.62 converted Enfields and Mausers, to AR-10 style rifles.

I know most will say "you need to build a load to get the best performance, ect" but Im not looking for exceptional performance, just a good universal round.

Anyone want to share their favorite load? Something similar to standard 7.62x51 NATO Ball would probably be perfect.

My 10TR likes 42gr of IMR 4895 pushing a 168gr bthp.

If you have a reloading manual, you should be ok just picking a load in the middle of the powder range. I've done this for some of my plinking rifles and it's worked pretty well.
 
Hard to beat H4895, but I hate loading extruded powder when bulk loading, so my "good enough for gov't work" loads consist of W748 and any 150 grain bullet. Mag primers help to spark the ball powder too.
 
For loads approximating Military loads, I've used this data that was shared at Vintage Military Rifle matches in the US I've attended:

308 with 150-gr :
45.5 grains Win-748 (46gr is my load for my M1A with FMJBT rounds)
39.0 grains IMR-3031
42.0 grains IMR-4895
44.0 grains IMR-4064

.308 with 168-gr:
43.0 grains Win-748
39.0 grains IMR-3031
40.5 grains IMR-4895
41.5 grains IMR-4064

For an all-around 308/7.62, used in semis and surplus rifles, I would go with a 150gr fmj bullet, pushed by 42gr of 4895.
Don't forget to full-size your brass, since you don't know in wich rifle it will be shoot.
 
46 grains of BL-C(2) (which is canister-grade WC 846) and a 150 grain FMJBT will approximate M80 ball and will be safe with military cases.
 
7.62 x 51 NATO Ball uses a 147 grain bullet at about 2700 fps. An FMJ 150 at around that will do. That's a mid range load for nearly all regular .308 powders. IMR4895(close to starting with the 'H'), IMR4964, BlC2, IMR3031, IMR4320, etc.
Do not expect great accuracy if you do not work up[ the load for each rifle.
