.308 adaptor - what caliber conversion?

Thought this was more a question for the military side rather than ammo. Checked the search function and found some cartridge adaptors but nothing in .308. Haven't gone to the reloading manuals yet to try and figure out the cartridge so any ideas let me know.

Has a " 25 " electric penciled in the side of it and accepts a .308 cartridge. Any idea what gun that adaptor fits? Will be going on the EE when I figure out what it's for.

Looks like it's 577/455 Martini Henry sleeve. I would say brass by the looks of it. Most likely to be made to fire "blanks" only. Very important....

Yes, it's brass. Didn't consider it for firing blanks but that would make sense with the chamber / bore difference. Thanks very much.
 
IIRC there were some adaptors to use 7.62 blanks in the .450 Martini made for the Halifax Citadel in the 1970s.
