308 AR Uppers (DPMS Style)

G'day All

Who in Canada has any, or can obtain single, stripped or complete AR-10 (DPMS Style) upper receivers? Not interested in complete upper, just bare receivers? I just ordered my first AR-10 (DPMS) lower but the company I got it from didn't have the upper to match, so I need to start looking at what's available here in Canada.

Let me know what you have seen and where.

I bought my Mega Machine MA-Ten receiver set from Questar but doesn't look like they're stocking them right now. I'm very happy with the quality. Others to try here in Alberta are ATRS or Red Deer Shooting Center, either could probably get you what you want.

You might have to import one from the US. Irunguns would probably be a decent bet. Keep checking around the sponsors sites and the EE. I wouldn't wait around on this one.

There are three problems. The first is that the LR308 isn't that common in Canada and was generally sold as a complete rifle. Questar used to get them once in a while. The second problem is that AR308 rifles aren't as compatible as AR15 rifles and the only uppers that will work with your lower arreined based on DPMS. Third, the regular LR308 has been replaced by the G2 system. So expect to see the LR308 first gen stuff sold off fast to make way for the new version. After this it will get harder to find them.

I would probably look to bring a couple blow out priced uppers in from the states. Or sell of that lower and get a G2 or Armalite depending on the type of AR308 you prefer.


Update: Irunguns will be bringing in what you need. If you are comitted ie bought a lower then don't wait when the needed parts come in as per the above I posted.

The MM upper wouldn't fit on a DPMS lower. it has the KAC SR-25 uppper/lower design.

Also: AR-10 is not DPMS compatible at all.


When you say AR-10 DPMS you are saying Porsche Aventador.

Not saying this to be CGN about just saying, watch what you order for your .308 AR's as far as parts go because they are fairly specific to your gun.

Ya sorry about that. I can see what that "AR10 (DPMS)" line could be read. I know I need to find a DPMS/KAC SR25 upper to fit this lower. I'll keep an eye open. Kinda broke right now but if something comes by and is a killer deal I'll jump on it just like I did 2 weeks ago on the Brownells "Deal of the Day". They had Aero Precision uppers for $67 each! Snagged 2 of them for some of my other AR15 projects.

Actually the SR-25 is not going to work on a DPMS either even though KAC is the "compatable" rifle.

DPMS .308 uses a scaled up AR-15 style lower. Basically the AR-15 enlarged to the .308 magwell. It will use AR-15 drop in triggers.

Look at the curved rear of the lower above the rear take down pin on the DPMS and compare to the KAC below....

That's the major no go. Everything else KAC is DPMS but uppers are not going to work on lowers.

Just make sure whatever upper you order looks like the DPMS inverse.

Thanks. I've been doing more research as suggested and I did notice the upper differences like you showed so well. I've got a line on some awesome DPMS pattern uppers and lowers that I need to do a bit more research on, but I think I'm almost there.
