.308 build update: + Bushnell 4200 6-24X50 T

I have it on a 25MOA base and plan on putting it in Burris Sig rigs with +/- 10 moa inserts, should give me plenty of room ;)

Do you mean I willl NOT have elevation travel ? Or do you mean the windage adjustment (left/right) will not work at the extreme end of the elevation adjustment ?

He means the windage adjustment will poop out at the extreme end(s) of the elevation adjustment. For long range shooting, it's definitely an issue.

FWIW, people sometimes complain about not having enough adjustment left in the scope for a 100 yd. zero when using 20 moa or greater bases. Have you had this problem? Limited windage adjustment at the "bottom" end of the scope's adjustment range is moot point since it won't likely be needed anyway.
 
So I've got the .308 nailing 175 SMK's at 2700 fps for 5 shots into one ragged hole at 100m. I am very happy with the set-up. Also, I am able to dial the 4200 6-24x50 out to 700 m (dialing about 20 MOA of elevation up from a 100 m zero) so overall, for what it is, it is working great for my rifle range (max 700 m). I was ringing the 12" gong at 700m this morning no problemo - dialed 'er right in. Here is a pic of it at the range this morning.

And of course my pet 300 RUM made a spectacular showing at (which for that rig) an easy shmeasy 700m. Here are some pics of that rig. Thats 700 m way back there!:rockOn:

Nice set up. Do you mind posting the details of the load your using? I was planning on 155 gr V-Max's for my Win Stealth but 175 SMK's at 2700 would do the trick as well.

Note that my stick has a 26" barrel, so it gives me an extra 50 fps or so over most 24" tubes. Also, I single feed individual rounds into the chamber, as the 175 SMK's are seated 0.02 off the lands. With this in mind, I load Varget over what most manuals list as max, Fed 210M primers, full length sized winchester brass. The most accurate 175 SMk load I have found is 44 grains of Varget, but the load I have settled on is a little hotter (but no pressure signs) to get the extra velocity I [think] is needed for long range shooting - it saves me about 3 MOA in elevation adjustment at 700 m.
