As a rough gauge, a .30 caliber barrel with a 1:12 twist will do well with bullets up to 170 grs, a 1:10 up to 200 grs, and 1:8 up to 240 grs. Although it is claimed by some, I have not detected any loss of accuracy by shooting light bullets in fast twist barrels, but I have had some pretty sad experiences with heavy bullets in slow twist barrels.

Boomer said:Well, there you go, but I did say a rough gauge. I expect there are shooters who get better than MOA with 220 MK's from 1:10 barrels. When they first appeared I tried Amax's (I do not recall the weight) in a Sportco barrelled .308 which shot MK's quite well. The results were uninspiring and, I admit, I never gave them a second chance.
