Hey guys looking to shoot paper/hunt. Which bullets do you suggest? I'm relatively new to reloading. My clubs longest range is 200yrds. I don't want to break the bank but I'm not afraid to spend a big of money for a noticeably better product. Thoughts?

+2 for amax. Try the 168 and or the 178 grainers. 178s shoot great in mine. For hunting i use 180 grain accubond which give me close enough to the same zero for hunting out to the distances i will shoot a 308 at big game.

It all depends. What is the twist of your barrel.? What is your intention, will you compete or just hitting paper

For target I use berger 155gr vlds and for hunting 150gr barnes ttsx, all pushed by h4894, took my moose with it last fall.

There is no one bullet out there that will turn a mediocre shooting rifle and rifleman into a tack driving pair.
I don't think you could determine that any one brand, or type of bullet is any more accurate for your 308 than any other regular, factory brand bullet.
Just get any one in the 150 to180 grain weight range that you can get a good deal on and load away.

Yup... And

My clubs longest range is 200yrds.

Shooting a fancy VLD at that range is kinda pointless when a "good" flat base or the $0.40 a piece Amax will make the same size hole.

165gr Sierra GameKings. 42.6gr of Benchmark, CCI BR2 Primer in a remington Case. Savage Model 11/111 will shoot under .5MOA all day or less at 200yards.. and works excellent on deer and moose. DRT. Cheap, Reliable, Accurate.

I shot 165 Hornady cheap soft points in a target rifle once and was shocked at how well they shot at short range (500 yds). I have used this cheap soft point hunting and it worked well.

When you say "paper" do you mean serious competition? If so, you need the match bullets like AMax or MatchKing, Berger or Lapua match. If you mean good performance that will reflect the quality of your rifle or shooting ability, I suggest any soft point hunting bullet (not FMJ). I would start with bullets in the 165 to 180 gr range.

Here are several less than premium priced hunting bullets which have produced MOA and sub-MOA results for me in a number of .308 Win and .30-06 rifles; 150 and 165gr Sierra SBT, 165gr Sierra HPBT, 150gr Hornady BTSP, 180gr Hornady BTSP, 150 and 165gr Nosler BT. They have all performed effectively on game animals as well.

Noslers less than premium priced? I'd like to know who your supplier is. Lowest price I found for them in my area is $32 per box of 50. For an extra 10-spot you can get twice as many A-max or SSTs. But there is no doubting they are a great bullet. I'm looking forward to seeing what the 168gr BTs do in my rifle since the .224" are AWESOME in my .223 and were the same in my old .22-250, but I'm hoping the Hornadys do just a bit better.

I like the Nosler bullets. They are a bit pricey so I mostly use them for hunting and load development. The Ballistic tip is very accurate, and the Accubond and Partition are great hunting bullets. I also use Hornady Interlock bullets for range work as they are quite a bit cheaper.

I have used all the above mentioned bullets and have found the most accurate bullet in .308 win hands down is the Berger 168 & 200 gr Hybrids produce the best groups .001 to .003 "
