This winter I pulled some bullets from some ratty Yugo 8x57 surplus ammo that was corroded. It had gotten wet at some point and was not useable.
The powder was good, as were a few bullets. I loaded the good bullets in some new 8x57 brass.
I loaded the leftover powder into some once-fired .308 brass under some 155/160 gr WW GC, setting the charge at 44.2 gr, a bit less than what I measured coming out of the 8x57. Shot a few off today and it averaged 2169 fps. Not unruly to shoot either.
Second ones were loaded with 10.3-10.5 gr of Unique with same bullet. Very nice to shoot, averaged 1509 and 1513 fps on three shot groups.
Just thought I would pass this on. I used a Caldwell Premium kit for the first time.
