Thought i would share this with all of you, The longest shot i made before this all was 1000 yards, ive competed in F class at that range, I always wanted to try to get beyond that and i told myself if i came back to visit this place i would, This is where i grew up and learned to shoot, here are the results.
The rifle i was using is a Remington model 700P in a AX AICS chassis with a Nightforce 40 MOA base and Nightforce NXS 3.5-15X50 with the NP-R2 reticle, the trigger is a Rifle Basix L-1K set to 2.5 Lbs, The rounds i loaded were the 175 SMK and the Hornady 178gr BTHP in Hornady match brass, CCI BR2 primers and 43.5 grains of Varget, Both have a C.O.L of 2.800" and both are around the 2600 FPS mark judging by the DOPE
Ranges were taken with Google earth and a Rangefinder. Shooting position for every shot was on a hill that was around 900ASL and the targets were on the beach that is about 700 ASL.
Here is my Range.
A closer look.
And closer.
And from the shooting position.
I will start off with the closest target ( not the first target i shot at but the closest) a balloon with a card on it at 1000 meters or 1093 yards.
Through the scope on 15X.
Through the spotting scope on 45X.
I took a total of 5 shots of 178 gr BTHP and hit with my 5th shot. Wind was only around 2.5 with the wind comings from 15 - 30 degrees. 0.5 of windage and 42.5 minutes of elevation POA POI. hit the balloon and just missed the card off the right edge.
Next target is a 45 gallon barrel at 1178 meters or 1288 yards.
Looking up at the shooting position on top of the hill.
Through the scope on 15X.
Through the spotting scope on 45X.
I took a total of 5 shots of 175 SMK and got 1 hit, 63.25 minutes of elevation and around 7 minutes of windage wind was around 5 mph - 8 mph i would hold off for the changing wind. I was happy cause i thought i hit it 5 times in a row because i could hear a thump sound but the round were going off the right side of the thing, from the top of the hill it looked like the splash was behind the target. Here is some pictures of the entry and exit.
Next up is the target at 1385 meters or 1514 yards.

Through the spotting scope on 45X.
I took 4 shots of 175 SMK and 1 shot of 178 BTHP for a total of 5 shots at this range, im pretty sure i hit it with the 4th shot and the 5th shot went way over because i used the same hold and the 178 are just ballistically superior to the 175 SMK.
maxed out my elevation at 86 minutes and held 6 minutes and windage was 8.5, wind was same as the 45 gallon drum shot cause after i was done with that one i moved on to this one. Here are some pictures of the the hit.

Next up is the 19.5" X 30.5" target at 1650 meters or 1804 yards. The target was angled back.

I took a total of 5 shots of 178 gr BTHP and hit with my 3rd shot i think haha, i say that because it was very hard to tell if it went through the target, over the target or under the target. on 10X Elevation still maxed out at 86 minutes and i was holding 12 -13 which on 10X is 36 minutes for a total of 122 minutes, i had around 10 minutes of windage but held way right to compensate for the changing wind and all the shots were very close the the target if i used a larger target i would have hit a lot more but im happy with the hit on the small target, Here is the picture of the hit.

After i had hit the 1650 target i still had over 300 meters of range left so i wanted to try it out.
Here is my target at 1950 meters or 2132 yards. Piece of plyboard 4'X8', Also angled back like the 1650 target.

Through the scope on 15X
Through the scope on 3.5X
Through the Spotting scope on 45X.
I took a total of 20 shots i shot at this target after i hit the balloon at 1K,
I would shoot then move my head to the left and look through the spotting scope, i was maxed out on 86 minutes and held 11 on 3.5X which is 94.25 minutes + 86 minutes which is 180.25 minutes. I dialed in windage of 2.5 minutes. First shot was way way to the right, the splash in the water came straight up about 5' into the air it was like mini artillary or something haha.
I put my windage on Zero and send another shot couldnt see where it went so i send another one and this one was low so i held 12 ( 102.75 minute hold total of 188.75 minutes of elevation ) instead of 11 and was holding a little ways off the left edge of the board, about 1 hash mark off the left edge, i saw water rise above the board from the back of the target and i thought i hit it.
The difficult part was telling if it hit or not because a splash would come up from behind the board if i hit and it would come up if i went right over the board too which was the case, i was going right over the top of the board but i didnt know this untill i held 11 again and hit low then saw that holding 12 was a tad bit high so i held 11.5 (98.5 minutes for a total of 184.5 minutes of elevation ) I knew i hit the target cause i was so damn close everytime the right hold for me was 11.5. 20 shots down i take a ride to the board and i got 3 hits on it at 1950 meters with a .308, here are the pictures.
