Calling all 308 fans. Please share pictures and stories about your 308's. I want to how many of us there are. I don't have pictures of mine right now. I'll post them next week.

No pics right now, but my M700 Rem in 308 dropped me 2 nice bucks and a bunch of eating deer in the 2 seasons I've hunted with it. I like the handling of short action rifles.

I am a huge fan of 308's. I currently own six of them. My only picture on this computer right now is the one below. A friend was holding it for me while I was answering nature's call. What a sweetheart. It was pretty much bigger than her. It's a Savage 12FVSS in .308. It would take a lot of money for me to sell it. We've been through a lot together. I also have a Savage 99 w/ detachable magazine, Savage 99 with rotary magazine, Thompson Center Pro Hunter, one scoped M-14, and one iron sighted M-14.

I got a deal many moons ago. I picked up a new-in-box Ruger M77 .308 bull barrel WITH a Leupold 2.5-10 VariXIII for $750.00 cash. It has served me very well indeed, and put lots of venison the table. We used to hunt in an area where up to 300 yd shots were possible, and it was a comfort to know that I had the rig to reach out at that range with total confidence. When I shuffle off this mortal coil, there'll be some hurt feelings among my buds, 'cause everyone wants this rifle, but only one gets it. I'll let the pics do the talking.

Big .308 M14 fan.
There's only 1 problem.
This thing gets through ammo like no ones business.
It's difficult to keep up even when reloading which quickly becomes a MUST.
5 rounds lasts 5 seconds or less. Getting through 200 rounds in a sitting is NOT a problem.
If powder were gasoline, it would be like owning a Cigarette boat.
It's easily a 4 pound per month habit.

A powder companies wet dream, you just can't help but :50cal:

That being said, I love it and thus am a huge fan of the .308.:D

Ruger M77 (tang safety) with a Bushnell 1.5-4.5. Its my fav rifle. Shoots sub MOA if I do my part. Picked it up for a song 3 years ago off another board. Im SOOOOOO happy I checked the for sale section that day.

I'm relatively new to rifles being more of a shotgun shooter but I love the two .308 rifles I own. Both guns are accurate, recoil is mild, and ammo is available anywhere.

The rifle was a Ruger MkII in .308. 150 gr nosler ballistic tip to the neck at about 100 yds.

gross scored 170 even. Yup 308's will work.

Sold the Ruger and replaced it with a Rem in 308. For deer I think it is about as perfect a round as you can find.

scope has been changed to a Bushnell Elite 4200 2.5X10 with firefly reticle, and the sling has been changed as well

have not updated the picture, maybe one day

Please reduce the size of your pictures.
No picture, but I blew a cinder block into wee, tiny pieces with my real, semi'd, M14 using IVI ball, long ago.

I inherited this from my Dad, picked up a spare mag along the way and installed a Leupold VX1 3-9x40 w/Burris Signature rings.
Great rifle and equally good round! Pic is from 3yrs ago, it an Elite 3200 3-9x40 on at the time.

I am the third generation owner of a Rem 600 and I love it. It was my Grandpa's, my Dad's, now mine and will be my future Son's.

This is my first deer and first buck a few years ago with this rifle.

I was and am rather proud of it. I had never been hunting before this deer and I got it on my own, spot and stalking.

This rifle also has been elk hunting with me. We did not get anything that year. Out of the three of us that went, two of us had never hunted elk. We were on a heard of about 40 and spent to much time slack jawed staring at them through the binos. We were so enthralled that out of the five day hunt none of us even got a picture of an elk. They are truly a majestic animal.
