308 fan

i can't figure out how to post a pic....

When you are posting look at the row of icons directly above the text box. Click the fifth form the right, the one that looks like mountains. Copy the pic location into the box that appears and hit ok. Pic is now posted.

for some reasno when i click the mountain icon, the computer only gives me a url box.
in any case... i have a parker hale in 308. it's a nice gun but i like the caliber more than the gun. it's a great all around cartridge.

No pics but ive kept at least one .308 around for awhile. I currently have a BLR81 i purchased new in '87 and for these eastern woods whitetails where 200 yds is the exception its great. Like the quote from a writer in the 80s and my opinion for sure: "The .308 Does It All!!

I use the .308 for benchrest shooting cast bullets, and it would be used in production class as it is unaltered. This .308 is very accurate and quite often out shoots my more customized benchguns, there's something very accurate about the cartridge. I do not use the .308 for big game, preferring much bigger cals., but I have had it out gopher hunting where it's accuracy really shows.

I am a huge fan of 308's. I currently own six of them. My only picture on this computer right now is the one below. A friend was holding it for me while I was answering nature's call. What a sweetheart. It was pretty much bigger than her. It's a Savage 12FVSS in .308. It would take a lot of money for me to sell it. We've been through a lot together. I also have a Savage 99 w/ detachable magazine, Savage 99 with rotary magazine, Thompson Center Pro Hunter, one scoped M-14, and one iron sighted M-14.

Waahhh - this pic has to be somewhere in Sandilands!!! I hunt in the Wampum area myself...I don't have a pic, but I own a Remmy 742 Woodsman semi-auto in 308 that I bought off the estate of my wife's hermit one-eyed uncle...Hasn't shot since the 70s mint...I have a bill dated 1967 for the 3x9 Redfield scope and rings. The guy only had one eye...and shooted darn straight! Still does! Sweeeet!

No. But I have hunted there. This is closer to the Whiteshell.

The 308 is the rifle.. You can't have enough of those, awaiting my TC Icon Wheateshield 308 this is my seventh one and counting...JP.

I got my "once-in-a-lifetime" deal on a Ruger M77 hbar with the walnut stock (not longer made) unfired, with a Leupold VariX III for $750. cash. Mind you, this was many years ago. The rifle has performed flawlessly for me over the years, and has put most of my venison on the table. It's more rifle than I am shooter, to be honest. It shows some dings and honest wear now, but it still nailed my 6 pointer clean as a whistle last year. As with most everything I've taken, it's one shot and down. It has digested everything I've fed it with no complaints or attitude, but it does have it's preferred diet (see the pics). I'll keep it as long as I am capable of hunting, and see it gone to a good home when I am too old to use as it should be used. Everyone who's fired it has loved it's performance, and I have several friends who've made it clear that they'd love it as a legacy arm when I shuffle off this mortal coil. What more can I say? The pics tell the story.
