How many grains of IMR 4320 or IMR 4350 would you
use to start with, i.e. what would be the MINIMUM load?

Remington cases, trimmed to 2.005", Hornady 150gr BTSP bullets.

Is 40-44 grains ok?

I'm new to this, I don't have the Hornady manual, can anyone
check what would be the minimum load for these two powders.

I don't want to screw up my first load :)

308 and 150 BT

I assume your talking about the 308 Win. with a 308 dia. 150 gr. boat tail bullet
Speer manual 150 gr. BT. IMR 4320 44 gr min. 48 Max
Speer manual 150 gr. BT. IMR 4350 44 gr min. 47 Max
But H335 or Win 748 are better suited to the Winchester 308 case size and will give much better velocity. Your best bet is to buy three or four reloading manuals and check all before reloading (there can be typos).
Also check on line most have their manuals in PDfs free for use.

Tick, yes .308 Win, I have the speer manual, IMR site says 44.1 for 150gr
Nosler BT, they don't list Hornady 150gr BTSP, the next one up is 165gr

150 GR. NOS BT IMR 4320 .308" 2.800" 44.1 2658 44,600 PSI 49.0C 2936 59,800 PSI

165 GR. HDY SP IMR 4320 .308" 2.750" 43.0 2536 46,900 PSI 46.5C 2730 58,400 PSI

I think, I need confirmation from Hornady manual, is 44 grains ok for the starting load?

I think 44 gr with 2.800" COL should be ok for 150 gr BTSP, no?

re 308 loads

Most manuals generalize loads for bullet weights Speer lists 6 different bullet designs in 150 gr weight for the same powder charge. Different bullets do generate different pressures just remember to start with the min load and work up checking for pressure signs. Speer are the most believable for actual velocity as they use firearms with standard hunting barrels to get the velocities listed. Powder and bullet companies use extra long heavy test barrels to generate the best results, they want to sell their products.
