Have been using nosler 168 grain silver ballistic tip bullets for reloading. Have been really happy with the performance and accuracy. But now I'm out of them and was looking at the price of the them and at 35.00 a box for fifty I'm wondering if there is something else out there with the same performance but cheaper. By the way these will be used for hunting.

Hornady 165 gr BTSP interlock
Give the Hornady 165gr Interlock BTSP a try...on average only $3.00 more for 100 bullets. They work great...although I did switch to the 180gr version a few years ago and haven't looked back. I shoot everything from groundhogs to moose from 30yds to 457yds (furthest shot to date on game) with the one load.

It may be cheaper just to spend 35 bucks on the Noslers than to buy a box of Hornadys then have to fart around trying to find a load with them. In my opinion the Noslers are a better big game bullet.
I do use the 165 BT Hornadys in my 308 and find them great for deer and bear never used them on a moose but should be fine. The 168 Noslers have a thicker jacket on the back half of the bullet and may be a better choice for an all round bullet especially moose and elk.

Hornady is simply the better deal period.
BUT, its only a better deal if it accoplishes all your needs.
All things being equal, they will perform identically in nearly all hunting situations (have used both bullets on game allot).
I find the ballistic tips have two characteristics the Hornadys soft point, boattails tend to not have.
1) a durable ballistic tip that both protects the ballistic profile of the bullet.
2) has a more efficient ballistic shape for longer range shooting.
I tend to be a practical person "normally", and shoot more hornadys.
They are cheaper and supply me with more opportunity to shoot more.

I would shoot the flat base 165gr Interlock before the boat tail any day. Always had good luck with them. Come in a box of 100 not 50. Work out the price 165gr Interbonds come in a box of 100 too. As do the Speer 165gr Deep Curls
That being said the Nosler Partition IS the bullet of choice for me now, they are mind numbingly dependable.

He said he was already using them so he has done his farting around already. I would stick with them, not saying the Hornadys would not work out for you.
It would cost you more in the short term working up a load for the Hornady. You will figure it out. Cheers Roscoe

I never really understood why guys would spend thousands of dollars on rifles and gear and transport to and from hunting..which may be the only time they get to be out in the bush per year, and then balk at buying a box of premium bullets because its too expensive. I just dont undersand the mentality?Are they practicing with said bulets and firing hundreds of them?
