ok, making some ammo for my dad's win 88, 308
I have some 185 vld (berger)hunting bullets I have left over from before my switch to 208-210 gr bullets
We also got some 165 interbond hornady bullets.

Mag limits rounds to 2.8 inches, about .150 off lands in his rifle. I m fairly confindent tht the 165's will be fine.
But from what i here 185's may not like such a jump.

Loads are over varget.

Anyone have any helpful advice? should i just use them in mr rig, and get a more suitable bullet, or give them try?
thanks
Matt

My 88 in 308 Win likes 130 grain Hornady sp, over 47.3 gr of IMR 4064 with cci primers in Winchester brass.
It gives a 1-1/2" group at 100 yds with a muzzle velocity of 3000 fps. Its a great deer load.
You didnt say what game youre after so I thought Id give it honorable mention.. Good luck this fall.

These will be a "general purpose" hunting round, so the ability to work a range of game would be nice.
nosler ballistic tip is not too dissimilar to interbond, might just try them as we have them now
give the 185 vld's a try as well, really not to interested in using them in my 700, as working up a load to just use up 200 does not float my boat.

my only real concern in the huge jump to the lands, or maybe I am being too picky given i load for target usually.

I had lots of trouble with my 308 BLR then a fellow at the range said to try Reloader 15. I now use rl15 shooting 165 grain nosler partitions and it shoots awesome.
