308 Lake City Brass Issues

Just did some LC match and Lapua tonight, just going by feel the LC felt almost twice as hard to resize. Done on Redding Big Boss press, tried a couple different lubes and that made no difference.

The two stage idea sounds genius, I'm definitely going to try that next time.

Decrimping the primer pocket was easy enough with a power drill, but having to do 100 of then was tedious hahaha.

Really, never seen a crimped primer LC before, that used to be why I looked specifically for LC no crimp. What year did they start crimping primers?

I have done lc(and others) brass before on my Rockchucker and at some point to much force is too much... You can use any lube you want... But when it gets to that it’s easier to anneal the lot and have a go at them after It only take a few minutes to do a batch

put 1 inch of cold water in a Pyrex cooking dish (do this when wife is not around )and heat each one red hot as best you can with a small torch and push it over while hot
......Don’t let the water get too warm ...

20 doesn’t take too long.. Did 100 the other night took me 30 min ...makes hard brass so much easier to deal with

i did a 1000 lc brass with my O press using hornadys unique paste lube with no problems ,

Hey all,

I got a bag of 1f lake city 308 and was resizing them. During the process I had to use a lot more force than usual when compared to other brands of brass. I gave them a generous coat of Imperial wax in both the outside and in the neck but still no luck. The case gets stuck about half way in, right when the expander ball hits the neck.

Has anyone else had the same problem I'm experiencing?? I know that mil brass is slightly thicker, but should it make such a difference?

I used a cloth and cleaned the inside of the die and took out a bunch of gunk, but that didn't seem to help that much.

I resize brass with the expander plug out...
