308 Marlin Express?????

Saw in on the Hornady web sight with little info.Would like to know cartrige dimentions,and what cartrige it is based on.

I believe it's based on the .307 Winchester case with the shoulder moved back and uses some new powder.The new Petersens hunting mag has an article on it.(I'll have to pick up a copy)

It is supposed to give .308 ballistics with the new soft plastic tip(leverlution or whatever), a joint Marlin/Hornady venture, neither the bullets or the powder will be avail. to reloaders, I don't see this as lasting, if you can't reload to the same effect.

not going to make it, look what has happened to every other "improvement" on the 30WCF.

seems to me there are three niches for traditional lever actions....30WCF, big bore, and pistol cartridges.

why couldnt they just load the 307 winchester with the 160 gr lever rev ammo and chamber the 307 in the new XLR rifles...I guess that doesnt sell as many guns as a new 308 marlin express!!!
