.308 Marlin Express.

Ive only handled a 336 MX, its a nice feeling rifle that points well, just like the 30-30 models. The cartridge gives you a bit more reach than a 30-30, which could come in handy if you cant stalk within 175-200 yards of your deer.
 
I've also only handled one. I presently have an older 336A in .30-30, and I find the 22" barrel on the Marlin .308 blued/walnut (308 MX?) made it handle a bit better. I hope the cartridge catches on; it's a practical enough idea. At least I hope Marlin has better success than Winchester had with the same idea of making more powerful lever chamberings.
