308 non-restricted modern black rifle

The M14 from Springfield or the Chinese knock off the Norinco M305. The Springfield will run you closer to $2000 where as the Norinco costs $400. Both are non restricted. You can purchase an AR10 or Panther 308. both at AR15 pattern rifles chambered in .308. Both are restricted. That's about it unless you're interested in bolt actions which I wouldn't necessarily consider a black rifle.

Anyone wanna take a guess, if the HK417 ever makes it in, will it be non restricted? Uses a different lower (and upper), different mags, different bolt etc...

Who knows

What is available out there?

Any help is appreciated.

Okay....you've gotten a lot of one-liners so far. For a 7.62X51mm "black" rifle that you can actually purchase now, your options are these:

#1. Purchase a $400 M14S/M305 from Marstar before they run out of stock. Mount it in a Sage/Troy/Marstar aluminum stock ($6-800 or so) or other synthetic stock ($cheap for USGI up to $900+ for JAE). What you get for a stock depends on what use you intend to put the rifle to, and just how "black" the rifle has to look to please you.

#2. Sell a kidney and buy a Valmet...if you can find one for sale. I think that there's one on the EE for about $5,000 right now.

There are other prospects on the horizon, but the "if" and "when" of those projects is uncertain.

Would an 870 buttstock or forend fit on a 7600? I'm thinking you could pimp one out pretty good, if so. I'd get one in 30-06.
