Yeah. but that 's true of most cartridges, even ones considered barrel burners. If you are putting a few boxes of ammo, say around a 100 to 150 rounds per year for range practice and hunting, you wo't be running out of barrel life too soon, especially if you don't run 'er hot and put 'er away wet, so to speak.

Trends today are not for 308 / 30-06 type rounds. I just recently picked up a 2.5-10x42NF scope terrible power range most would say.
A friend says to me you mount that scope up yet? Told him no I was thinking about having another rifle made. He goes ya well it’ll probably be something ### like 30-06…
Said he’s likely right or close and it won’t be some plastic nasty either.
