.308 re-bore to .35

Can anyone tell me if it is possible and effective to rebore a .308 Win in a Model 88 to .35 for a .358 Win. (does a stock .358 have a different barrel profile/diameter?) Would a rebarrel be a better choice, who could supply one? Anyone with a .358 Win for sale??

I know of a number of 308s that have been rebored to 358 by Ron Smith, with no problem whatsoever.

They have all shot at least as well as they did in 308.

Most likely easier going with the 338 Federal than the 358, you'll have more wall thickness to play with depending on which gun you choose.

Most smiths ask for at the very minimum outside diameter of .600 before they'll rechamber it to 358.

88 should work fine, I've seen a few of them over the years that have been rebored. MD, why would you want a 33 when you can have a 35? - dan
