I learnt how to reload some bullets tonite with a good friend who has all the proper gear/eqpt.

Hornady match 168 gr bthp
50 x Remington brass
50 x lapua brass
Federal gold match primers
Velocity 2600 fps
Col 2.800

I plan to shoot them thru my PGW coyote. I need to invest in the auto-filler as I have a press & the other tools to reload. It was kinda fun tonite. I can't wait to do some shooting.

Welcome to the wonderful world of reloading. You've got access to some lovely equipment there, and I'm frankly envious. I'm more old-school, but since I have the time, why not? I find it very relaxing, and there's nothing nicer than seeing that shiny bullet seated, and the round complete. I'm in the process of working up some hunting and target loads for my 6.5 X 55 so I'm trying different bullet/powder combinations and powder weights. I usually load 5 rounds of each and record which round shoots which group when I get to the range. I should have it all tuned in come hunting season. Good luck to you.
 
Something about that box of newly minted .308 that gives you that warm and fuzzy feeling.

I just got into reloading as well. I don't know why, but it is also very relaxing. Do report back with the range results when available.

My next reload will be 308's. Just need to collect more brass, and of course a set of Lee die.

If i could suggest, I would pass on the chargemaster and buy a powder measure ( i use the Lee perfect powder measure) and buy a decent scale you will get more use out of the scale then the single use chargemaster.

I heard that Lyman no 55 powder measure is good. I'm also using the Lee pro autodisk but it does not meter 700-x well. I still have to try the aquarium pump method.
 
I have the lyman 55 powder measure and an RCBS beam scale, the powder measure gets me within a tenth of a grain and the trickler tops it up.

There is nothing better than seeing the finished product, especially when you are hitting the desired groupings at the desired ranges.
 
Thanks for the replies & I agree it is relaxing. Haha. I look forward to some fun shooting & hopefully tighter groups & doing some longer distance shooting as my friend has targets set at 500, 800 & I think he said 1150 yards.

Have you done any load testing? The first time I started reloading was for 308 and went with a "classic" load of 42.5 gns of 4895 under a 168 HPBT assuming it was good to go and made 100 rounds for a qualification session followed by a fun shoot the next day.

The rifle hated the load shooting as bad or worse than Norinco bulk ammo. Ended up wasting 50 and pulling the remaining 50. Further, the qualification was embarrassing at best.:mad:
 
I would like to start reloading also for 223 as I'm currently having a rifle built. Was wondering who sells 223 lapua brass in Canada?

Congrats Otokiak. I've been reloading 308 for a decade and it's become quite a passion. Great to tweak those loads until you get the accuracy and velocity just right.
I've seen your pic on the PGW Facebook page with your Coyote. Looking good! I've got a PGW Coyote on order and can't wait to try it myself.

Good for you. I have been reloading .308 for about a year now and really enjoy it. I shoot a SIG SSG3000 and it loves Sierra Match Kings and Hornady Amax. I use both Varget and IMR4064, depending on what I can find and for me, I see little difference in accuracy so I have shot more IMR since it's cheaper. Absolutely no question it shoots better than any factory ammunition I have bought.
 
I sure need to invest in one of them push de button powder scales.
Never had much luck with the powder drop gizmoe.

Them pointy tips awll corralled in that green bawx sure is a pretty sight.
 
I have been playing with CFE223 as it is a ball powder and a breeze to reload. Been getting very good results through my XCR-M in .308 with it, albeit with 150 grain Hornady SPBT's.

Huh. I'm a little puzzled by this.

I went to a ChargeMaster combo and it so much faster than a scale and trickler.

The powder throwers can be good, but depend on a good and consistent throw.

The ChargeMaster combo is robotic and easy. And it's never been wrong.
