Take a look at the remington 700 sps... good affordable rifles... or the weatherby vangaurd synthetic...

Get a used Remy 700 SPS Tactical in .308 off the EE and then a bushnell 3200 scope...that should keep you pretty close to the $700 you listed in the other thread.

sps is a good one like menchoned

Axis to man. $330 with a scope. Cheep price but even I bought one. There a great hunting rifle. Light weight and suprising enough is accurate. It's no target rifle but.. The biggest downfall is the recoil lug. It's more like a key style.. But being a hunting rifle that is fine.

pretty much every gun comes in .308 so u have some selection forsure.

Have fun picking out a winner ! Most of all, don't buy it if it does not feel right. Good luck.

I had a chance to wring out 2 new heavy barrel .308s not long ago, I was looking for a very accurate .308, a Savage 110 and a Rem. 700. On most anything that I fed them the Rem. shot better and is still with me and is used as Production class. The Savage was not as slick or as accurate and i didn't like it's plastic stock so it went back.

Like your post in Hunting and sporting arms,
If you like the bolt actions then a Savage 10FCM or similar, the Winchester featherweight compact would be an excellent choice.
As stated above look at the used racks, there are plenty of 308's out there.
