someone mentioned using a model 99 in fair weather, do they have any trouble with snow and rain? I have been considering a model 99 for my first moose kill.
I tried 180's in mine, but they wouldn't shoot out of my Savage 99C. Went with 165 Hornady interlocks. They shot well, gave extended range, and killed moose.
I never had an issue with chambering anything in the 99, just would not shoot 180 grains accurately.yet all mine has seen are 180 grain speer hotcors- and it's a 99c as well- 71-72 vintage
of course, you work the lever like you mean it, not pussyfoot closing the bolt
