Erg Letdown City. That DPMS has a Barrel length of 16". Why the Hell is the AR-10 restricted? It's not listed. So F'n confusing.

I'm going to Reiterate though, I'm looking for an UNRESTRICTED Rifle and NOT AN M-14 or Similar.

ETA* "The firearm of the design commonly known as the M-16 rifle, and any variant or modified version of it, including the:" left that out and didn't see it. I -Suppose- the AR-10 classifies as a Variant? So, that STILL leaves me wondering about the DPMS... were I to get a longer bbl put on that is.

Not the ones you can buy now. The very few factory semi-autos that were built back in the late 50's or so are non-restricted as they came before the AR15 and could not be called a variant if they came first.

There are rumored to be two non-restricted AR10's in Canada.

.......I have heard some stupid things in my time. I have heard some Brain numbing, head smacking, "castrate your self before breeding as not to pollute the gene pool" ####in' #### but THAT... THAT BY FAR takes the cake......:mad:
 
the original Ar10 was made in the fifties by armalite. sudan and portugal made them under license. almost all were full auto except a very small number of semi only from factory. parts look similar to the AR15 but are very different.

armalite then made the AR15. colt then bought it

the NEW armalite company started making the AR10B in the late 90's. this was made using alot of AR15 parts and AR15 design. hence the VARIANT BS.

That's a Nice rifle. Not quite black enough for my likin though.

It almost seems like there is no AR180B 308 equivelent.
 
OK, The CFC Website is USELESS!!! What is the Definition of an M16 Variant? How do you decide what IS a Variant and what ISN'T a Variant? I'm assuming they draw a line somewhere between "A gun that fires bullets" and "M-16 A2".

So, let me get this straight, If the rife is not Prohibited... it has a bbl length of 18.5" or over And is Not an M16 Variant... It's legal and Non-Restricted... is this right?

So esentially the last line to be drawn is around what is considered a Variant.

It was the AR16, which never made it past the prototype stage.
