Just bought a .308 and will be hand loading for it.
I have small rifle primers on hand so want to got that route.
Is there any small rifle primer brass for .308 that is cheaper than the Lapua 'Palma" stuff?
If so where's your source?

I have several bags of Starline brand 308 Win with Small Rifle size primer pockets. I think I got those from Prophet River? My intention had been to re-form some of them into 243 Win and 22-250, but I have done nothing with them, so far.

Hmm, so the Lapua is that much better?
Basically twice the cost, do you think you can get the double the use out of them?
I use Alpha -Peterson - Lapua -ADG brass in a FEW different cartridges . All are better then Hornady - Federal - etc
I don’t find Lapua to be any better then any of the others- ALPHA-Peterson -ADG- myself and in a 308 Win lrp works just find for life unless your really pushing bullets Fast . My 284 Win F Open rifle uses lRP Lapua and have 12 plus shots from them and the pockets are still find .
Alpha brass has being excellent from my 6 GT
Peterson brass from my 280 AI
ADG from my 6.5 and 7 mm and 300 PRC
JMHO 😊

OP,
The original small primer brass was Remington URBR brass,4 decades prior to Lapua's 308 Palma brass introduction.

I run the URBR brass in several chamberings-243,260,308.

I have 62 new and primed starline srp. They probably have cci small magnums in them.

16 new and loaded that I can pull the bullets and dump the powder.

And 22 once fired.

If you want to make a deal on them let me know.

I’m in Fort Mcmurray if you’re nearby.
