If I were to convert a 308 to 338 Federal (new barrel) would I need to make any alterations to the magazine follower to ensure the rounds feed properly? I would assume the answer is no since they are still 308 rounds (just necked up to take a larger caliber bullet (but we know what ASSUME means).

I had a kimber montana rebored from .308 win to .338 federal for my wife to use on backpack hunts. A serious increase in recoil.

I find the recoil is about the same as a .30-06. Slightly more than the .308, but nothing unbearable in a sporter weight rifle. I really like the 760 I had done, thinking about doing another one on a Sako action...

The montana would be a different story though, at 5.2lbs...
