Well as was mentioned, i think for all practical purposes and considering the bullets and loads available for hunting the difference is about 75 yards, maybe a bit less. What the 308 does, the 30-06 does about 50-75 yards later.
Additonally, if you wanted the horsepower anyway, hornady makes a 180 grain light mag load for the 308 that comes out at about 2750. That's almost bang on what a 'standard' 30-06 180 grain bullet will do.
Unless you go long once in a while, or are hunting really heavy game, i doubt there's a noticable difference.
