Hat's off to you Badger! I am definately impressed!!

That's awsome!

I think I'm going to give this distance stuff a go one of these days!
(If I can find the space.)
:D

Yup, we shoot with No. 1 Enfields, No.4 Enfileds, 45/70's, 577 Sniders( this summer), 308's, 577'450 Martinis, pretty well annything tthat has the cpabilities will get lead chucked at our targets at rhe Oupost of the Empire!
We have a bench set up, but i prefer to use a single point sling and irons, or cross stciks with the BPCR rifles.
'Badger prefers the "sitting " position!:D

Nice Pic Cat.....see ya got my bed made....can't waite for spring!!:D
That one will likely be gone with the ice, as have all the rest over the years!
However, it is never a problem getting enough scrap lumber for more, anmd a set of pallets screw together , braced, and buried a bit in the sand make a great shooting bench.:D

two cents

I'm not near as experienced as most of you.

But I just bought a new .300 win mag last year and love it. I'm a hunter, not a target shooter but I like the "reach out there" aspect even if I don't need it. It works on Moose, Elk, Deer, or Rabbits (lol).

Rabbits...NICE!!

Reminds me of the time I shot at a grouse with a 338Wm!!

One thing you may want to consider. Some clubs take a dim view of brakes because the blast distracts other shooters on the mound.

I have heard that excuse a few times and personaly think it is a load of crap!!. I have sat next to shooters using breaks for many years and have never had a problem with them. I Have a rifle with a break on it now and don't see it as being a problem. I think its a bunch of babies making a load of excuses. If people on the line are wearing thier ear protection as they should and the shooter using the break is showing respect making sure people aree aware he is going to shoot, there should be no problem,or distraction to other shooters unless the observer has his head up by the muzzle end. A muzzle break is a great tool that reduces recoil and alows a shooter to spend all day behind a large caliber rifle with out fatigue.

Just an opinion

ICQ, I reread my message and didn't mean this as a personal attack on what you posted, which the way I wrote it could be taken as......so allow me to elaborate on my OPINION. I know that opinion is held by some clubs about brakes due to bad experiances with some shooters using brakes. I hate it when people ban or are against a great tool because of someone not properly using it. If there are idiots on the range misusing a Brake.....ban the idiot, or educate him on proper use....dont ban the tool. It's the same mentality as our gov't banning different guns because of misuse by bad people instead of dealing with the people. Is that clearer and does it make sence?

No offence taken. I am with you but at Connaught the full bore shooters are a very particular lot. That said it is a minor inconvenience for the opportunity to shoot at such a world class facility.

I think a lot of it has to do not with the noise but but with the blast for a brake while on the firing line in a match.
The being said, it is easy enough to gauge a shot while the person has just fired their's with the brake.
It may have to do with other issues, but I do not worry about stuff like that, I just make sure of the rules before I enter a match and make certain that my gear is within those rules, without loopholes .
Our matches BTW, allow brakes in all our classes.....
