308 vs6.5 creedmore

I'm an old fella
and i can afford any rifle in any caliber that i want
i've had a good variety from magnums to plain janes
now i only use a few to hunt big game.
30-30 for fun, 303 so i can use it as a paddle, and emergencies truck gun.
243 win, because i like to see them drop.
And lastly 308.win. In savage 99c when i'm really serious.
Go with a .308 and you will never go wrong
old timer 76

only buy a rifle with a detachable magazine
i lost 2 moose lately because i did not have a rifle with a loaded magazine

Why all the hate for 6.5, it’s an excellent choice for hunting and target
Just as effective as 308 with less recoil
Bigger or Magnum doesn’t mean it’s better
6.5 is my go to for anything in North America with proper bullet
Some of you old farts need to accept that some of the newer technology has some benefits
Just my two cent

I wanted a to do everything rifle and settled on a cz 557 in 308, mainly due to ammo availability. I would like to hunt as well as plink with my rifle and at 80 cents surplus 7.62 availability out there, you cant go wrong.

6.5 is a fairly new cartridge (from 2017?) And I feel like 90% of people only purchased a rifle chambered in it due to it trending and won't actually use it to its full potential. My research showed that under 500 meters 308 and 6.5cm are almost identical.

I've had a few of each and settled on a 6.5 Creedmoor, sent my last .308 on its merry way about a year ago (Winchester XPR, fine budget rifle!). I always felt like if I wanted the larger bullet of the .308, I also wanted more power to go with it, and I already had a .30-06 so there wasn't anything left on the table for it to make it's claim.

Not a naysayer, it's a fine little cartridge, I just felt the 6.5 (out of the Sig Cross) was a wicked little package for deer and bigger things were bigger enough that the '06 was my default anyways.

Well if you can stretch out its legs in Winnipeg than that's great but for most of us who live in the sewer of S-Ontario my maximum range is 200 yards. Now I am going to watch some YT videos of people hitting steel at great distances :)

6.5 is far from being new tech lol, and 6.5creed is no new tech either, 6.5x55 does exactly the same other than the short action bit and some say that you should go with a medium action anyway with the creed just to be sure you can sit the bullets at there full potential!! So 6.5x55 would be my choice between the two cause it is a bit better!!

6.5 Creedmoor Released to the masses at the 2008 SHOT show (the prc was 2020). The amount of factory ammo that will be sold for it over the next 100 years is going to be staggering. Can’t go wrong with either. The 6.5 is simply the 21st century interpretation. I’d go 6.5 and 140 eld's and just shoot it for everything..,a lot.

A lightweight 308 is a good choice for a one rifle Canadian quiver. I would not feel comfortable with a one rifle 6.5 quiver.

6.5 creed gets my vote. If I think that going up in diameter to 308 will be needed to anchor an animal I'll be running more than 60 grains of powder behind it.

I'm getting pretty old not sure if i can grow enough hair for a man bun, therefore I am going with the .308. That being said my first choice for a short action would be a 7-08.
