308 win and TTSX

30 cal Barnes minimum FPS for expansion, according to Barnes :

.308
150TTSX – 1800 FPS
165TTSX - 1800 FPS
168TTSX - 1500 FPS
175LRX – 1600 FPS
180TTSX - 1500 FPS
190LRX - 1500 FPS
200 LRX – 1600 FPS
208 LRX - 1700 fps
212 LRX Bore Rider - 1600 fps
I would add a good 400fps to at least the ttsx models to get actual expansion from what I have seen online and in the real world.

Unless by expansion you mean any deformation of the tip. But you still are looking at a calibre sized hole.

I mean if they were confident they would post that somewhere on the box or their website. Then they would have to answer to all the people filming them going through gel at low speeds and recovering bullets that never expanded beyond original diameter.

I use Barnes bullets for mostly high shoulder shots, they are outstanding at that. They do not create large wounds even when they do expand. Some people like them for that.

I couldn't get decent accuracy with any of the Barnes bullets out of my Ruger .308. I have the Ruger American with the shorter heavy barrel and muzzle brake. I get deadnuts accuracy with the Speer 165 gr. on top on IMR4064. My buddy nailed a deer with that load this year and it was a perfect heart shot that saw the deer only go about 7-8 yds. and down.
