A buddy gave me a hand full of 168 TTSX to try out.

I have a T3 in 308 win that they will be going out of...

Any tried and true loads for me to go with so I dont waste all these on load development?

Thanks

I shoot the 150's with H4895. Varget is always a safe bet with the 308

Accuracy may be effected by less than ideal stability from the 1:11 twist Tikka barrel. The 168gr TTSX is a long bullet

i shot the 165gr ttsx in my tikka and couldnt get a decent group. switched to the 130gr and got much better velocity and groups.

i think the 168gr is meant for some more horsepower like the 300 win mag.

Just tried mr2000 with 165 trophy bonded tips and cfe 223 with 168 TTSX - both powders giving similar accuracy to my best Varget load BUT higher velocities - 2715 FPS range - not blazing fast for a 308 but still 150 FPS faster than my varget load in my browning barrelled BLR where I expect max velocities to be100 -120 FPS slower than velocities from a 24” barrell.

Just tested 168 TTSX with BLC(2) in Tikka 308 Lite Veil. Got 0.632” and 0.617” groups with 46.1 and 47.4 loads, respectively. Average Velocities were 2747 fps and 2755 fps.

Barnes expansion velocity for TTSX is 1600 FPS. Projected velocity at 300 yards, my self-imposed limit for shooting big game with a .308 WIN, is 2187 fps. This projected velocity, in turn exceeds the 2000 fps minimum velocity limit I hold myself to regardless of which bullet I’m using.

All this is to say that I would be confident using this combination for my moose hunting out to 300 yards - anything past that, I would go with a 30-06 or bigger..
