Ok, this might be a very stupid question, but is .308 win brass the same as .308 norma brass?? I bought 100 once fired brass off the EE, and tried to slide one of the norma into the chamber, and my bolt wont close. Did I throw my money away, or after the firing, do they warp a bit, and all I need to do is run them through a resizing die for them to work? After the norma didnt allow my bolt to close, I tried some once fired factory brass, and they worked fine.

If the case was not fired in your gun the is no reason why it would fit your gun before resizing. All chambers vary in size.

There is a calibre named .308 Norma Mag which is different from .308 Winchester. The Norma mag has a belt around the bottom of the cartridge and is larger than .308 Winchester. The Norma company makes brass for both calibres.

If you have .308 Win brass made by Norma full length resizing will make it fit in your chamber.

Thanks guys. It's not a .308 Norma Mag, so I guess a resizing will do the trick! If not, it's only money! Easy come, easy go :)

Well since you have bought the brass and money is no object, might I suggest a reloading manual? Because I don't think you fully understand anything past factory ammo. Read the reloading manual and the fog will lift!:)

If I understand correctly, the Winchester is your factory brass and the Norma is the 1-fired.

Both will work after you run them through factory dies, At issue here is the chamber dimensions for the rifle that fired the 1-fired brass you have, Resize it and it will work. However, do not duplicate the loads between the Winchester and the Norma brass. The Winchester has about 1 gr (water) capacity more volume than the Norma. You need to develop loads for each brass - try to use a different bullet weight or something similar to keep them separate.

Another Tip, go out and grab a reloading Manuel, not only do they contain tips, but they are also recipe books, and will have different bulet weights with around 6-8 different powder options per bullet with around 5 different loads for each powder. Its also a good idea to get two for that very assuring second opinion on loads. I think the Hornady and Lymann ones are good books.

Run them thru FLS die, trim, chamfer, deburr........then try putting one of the cases in your rifle

Norma brass is a nice find.
Don't be too quick to get rid of it.

You're understating the quality of Norma brass. Its fabulous brass! Just to see how good it is I once loaded some .308 Win Norma brass over 40 times (with two neck annealings along the way) before I started to get neck splitting and threw it out.

Once you resize them you should be good to go but there probably is a difference in volume and a load worked up in the WW brass might be hotter in the norma brass.

Norma made brass is indeed good brass, albeit a bit "softer" than Winchester or Lapua Brass. I have some 8x57 brass that has been loaded many, many times and still seems just fine. Regards, Eagleye.

Guys I'm still really green but my best friend has a .308 norma mag and the case on that sucker is damn near the size of a .300 win mag. How could you possibly size it down to .308?

If all else fails and it won't work I'd really like to buy that brass off you. Thanks.
