.308 Win for target practice

Depends whether or not you reload. Czech Privi Partisan if you reload and can use the brass or Norinco if you don't reload.

I wouldn't think any surplus would work well for target use but anything else gets you above $1.20 a round or more

You will have to try a bunch of different brands to find out your rifle likes. Expensive match ammo does not aways mean your rifle it will shoot snot holes at any distance. To be honest, reloading is the cheapest way to go in the long run. This way you can tailor your ammo to your rifle. At the distances you are shooting you might not see a real advantage to use match bullets and might be able to get away with bulk bullets. The other advantage or disadvantage of roll your own ammo is that any flyers you may get can't be blamed on the factory ammo.

For the price of about 10 boxes of match ammo you can set yourself up with a nice reloading kit.

Winchester USA brand or Super X (I don't like Super X thought), less than a dollar a pop. Anything you find between 140-180gr should work well in your barrel.

Nothing beats reloading for the long term.

That rifle should be fed good ammo to live up to its full potential.

Federal Gold Medal Match or Nosler Match should do the trick. Buy it in bulk.

Contact Del Selin's in Vernon BC for either brand, I know he has the Nosler on hand and he can get the Federal.

Man, you buying a Ferrari and putting in cheap gas in her? You probably could have just bought a cheap Savage Axis to get the same results. I know reloading isn't for everyone but with a sweet rifle like that, now is the perfect time to get into it. You'll be making top consistent quality, match grade ammo that will cost less than average factory stuff.

Regardless, you bought a sweet rifle. Congrats man!

This!

I would suggest start looking into re-loading. As Trinimon has said you can make top grade ammo yourself at the price of your average factory stuff.

You have a very sweet rifle .... feed her the good stuff and for sure she will return the favor with all the tight groups you will have.

Damn .... I need to sell some of my stuff to get me some $$$ and get the Sig!

Hornady 168gr. BTHP can be found for about $30 a box. A bit pricey but not compared to Fed GMM. Used some this summer at a gong placed 800 yards away. Took two shots to get on target, after that it was 48 straight hits on a 10" gong. Stopped because I was getting sore. Noticed that the pressure seemed high on some of them, although it was a smoking hot day. Some were difficult to extract but when done you are left with stellar match brass to reload.
