What is the 3rd rifle down Caramel?
And the 308 live on....
Just pick up a brand new Wheaterby 308 Vangard S2 Carbine 20 inch barrel, sub moa, 2 stage adjustable trigger to 2.5 pounds from EPPS for 539.00...
Man it amaze me to see that rifle in a little corner of Epps inventory still for sale at that price, this is a lucky move for me, my grand daughter Janis just got herself her first big game rifle, her birthday is in a month and she will be 16... Yey... JP.

What best gift can you gift to a novice shooter other than a nice Wheaterby S2 308 Carbine with a Nikon 6X18X40 NP with a rifle case, a nice leather sling and a 100 rounds of Nosler 165 gr Accubond for their first big game rifle... And i get to zero it myself before i see her shoot the first rounds of it... I love those situations... JP.
Why 6X18 ? My 6X18 only sees action in long range target shooting and even in that, my 4X12 is good enough.
Magnification is like money, you can always use more... Lol... JP.I guess, just cause its got it don't mean ya needta use it (magnification)

The reality is that pretty much everyting you need could be done with one of the garden variety, vanilla flavoured .270/30-06/308/6.5x55 and many others like them with a wood stocked 30 yr old mauser action of your choice with a $200 scope(or less).
But you will never ever read that in a magazine, and I will never ever admit that to my wife.

Because i bought 3 Nikon 6X18X40 NP from a big floor dealer for 199.99/each, might as well use them, they are very clear and well made scope... JP.
308 kills everything in Canada. Anyone who argues that is nuts.
