So I'd like to use water quenched WW cast bullets, in 160, 180, and possibly 200Gr weights powder coated, and sized to .309'', all with gas checks. I hope to use these bullets in the 308 Winchester case for both my bolt and self loading rifles. Trouble is I'm getting large variances between my various loading manuals on what charge of Varget to use. I'm not with my manuals at the moment to quote from it, but I can cite from it when I next get the chance.

So what are your thoughts and suggestions? Can you give me a good place to start? I have a few other powders, but hope to use Varget as I have a good quantity of it.

Thanks for your input.

Varget is i think a bit fast in the burning range for cast bullets and Varget tends to work best at top end pressures which you will not get with cast

What twist do you have in your rifle ?

Imr 4895 and H4895 would be better
4895 will also be better in the semi

Read up on Dacron Filler

with the 10 twist look to have a velocity 1900 - 2000 Max

work up with your load and stop when group opens up -- you want to be in the low end of the sweet spot so that if weather conditions change your good load will still be good not be shotgun

I Did one load and 0.5 of a grain and different weather conditions made me think the scope was pooched -- scope was ok
