308 winchester powder choices

I start about 2 grains under Max and work from there. These are bolt action rifles with ss match barrels. With a factory gun I would start about 10% below max. Each gun is different but I find the same load in the Remington 40X, Wichita and Millennium rifle all shoot about the same. The Remington has a Krieger with an Obermeyer chamber, Wichita has a McLennen with the Canadian RG chamber and the Millennium has a McLennen with an Obermeyer.

Varget and 3031 have worked well for me in the past.

In .308 I'm partial to 4064. I've loaded from 110 grainers up with it.
