Just picked up a custom 308 with a RDK in. Barrrel at 30inch with a twist of 20-10.5 (gain Twist) SAMMI chamber and a 2.5-14x50mm IOR. Also it has a Ultimate Sniper Stock from Chaptoe, not sure on the spelling, machining. I would like to know what you guys and gals are shooting at extreme ranges. 600 to 1500+ with and how they preform? You don't have to give the exact just what powder bullet weight and primer if you could?

Really can't wait to shoot this rig. Will show range results and pics later when I develop a load.

Thanks for the advice in advance.

308 will be a grunt at 1500+ 900M is about its functional max range, maybe a bit more.

Shoot it and see what the gun likes. 10.5 twist is far more than is needed with 308, but it should like the heavy 168-210 grain bullets ok.

Every gun is completely different when it comes to load developing. Try a couple of the excellent powders out there for 308 and work from the manuals for starting loads and ladder from there. 175 SMK and 178 Amax are proven perfomers

One of my first LR rigs was a 308 palma kind of rifle. It loved 155gr Amax and I had no issue going to 1450yds. I have recently shot a 223 and 80gr Amax to a mile. I shoot with a gent who pushed some 55gr Vmax to 1000yds in a 12 twist 223.

Amax seem to reach out well and go subsonic without too much hassle.

Not the most accurate bullet but if LR plinking is what you are after, I would go this route to start. Bergers are also excellent LR bullets but I have had some issues with the 80gr VLD's in that mile long 223.

Lapua is another bullet that palma shooters compete with out to 1200yds and they better work or no one would use them

Let the barrel tell you which bullet it likes. From there, you just raise the nose and drop the bullets further out. Varget has always worked well for my lit with either Fed 210 or CCI BR2 primers.

You may also find Re17 or H4350 to work for the super heavy 30's.

Enjoy your new toy and shim that scope ALOT..
